Emma is a well sought after singer and actress currently based in Sydney, Australia, with extensive experience working in the Music Theatre industry and with pop/rock bands nationally and internationally.
Emma completed her undergraduate studies at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Emma graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Voice and a Certificate in Music Studies. While having been trained in various musical styles through university, Emma found herself leaning towards the world of Music Theatre, enjoying the versatility required for the live performances.
Emma has participated in workshops and master classes with Jason Robert Brown, Georgia Stitt, Neil Semer and Todd Schroeder, as well as Simon Gallaher’s Showstoppers (with mentors Nancye Hayes, Julie Anthony, Monica Trapaga and Angela Toohey), and in 2012 completed a Summer Intensive at Atlantic Acting School in New York City.
Emma was a senior vocalist with Voiceworks for a number of years, and was a member of the choir when it obtained a Semi-Finalist position in Channel 7’s Battle of the Choirs. Emma was also a National Finalist in Storm the Stage (Music Theatre competition).
Music Theatre roles have included Elphaba (Wicked), Scaramouche (We Will Rock You), Veronica (Heathers), Natalie Goodman (Next to Normal), Mimi Marquez (RENT), Hermione Granger (A Very Potter Musical), Karen (Boy From Oz), Chiffon (Little Shop of Horrors) and Thea (Spring Awakening) as well as originating the roles of Molly (Pyjamas in Paradise), Poppy Ross (Scissors Paper Rock). Emma most recently played Ava Derwent in the Australian premiere of STALKER the Musical for which she was nominated for a Broadway World Award.
With such a range of experience and training, Emma has a sound and range that is well-suited to a variety of genres, enabling her to work in the theatre world and also with pop/rock bands and other groups.
In 2014, Emma performed as a lead singer for covers band The Psychlones with Carnival Cruise Lines based in Miami, USA and, since moving back to Australia, as a singer with several Sydney corporate/party covers bands including Smooth Jive Consultants the Bad 80s Band and The MVP Band. Emma also regularly appears with tribute shows The Oz Blues Brothers Show and She Will Rock You (Queen tribute).
In the muggle world, Emma is studying her Masters of Marketing at the University of Sydney and works as a Marketing Coordinator for a law firm in the Sydney CBD. Emma is a co-creator of nail polish line Bottled Books and is also a painter, creating watercolour keepsakes over lyrics and sheet music through her online business Art & Music Co.
Emma is currently rehearsing for the role of Jo March in the October 2019 production of Little Women with SMT.
